Bicep and Tendon Rupture Repair Surgery

There are two primary muscles in the bicep muscle group. These muscles, which start in the shoulder and go to the radius, a short bone in the forearm, are commonly referred to as the long head and the short head.

Bicep tendon ruptures can occur in the shoulder or in the elbow and generally occur when attempting to catch something or an unexpected and excessive force is applied to the bicep. These injuries most commonly occur when the elbow is flexing.

A bicep tendon rupture repair surgery essentially entails reattaching the tendon to the radius bone.
